- Welcome to 2023’s Final Weekly Summary!
A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the newsletter this year!👏🙏 As we step into 2024, we'd love to hear what changes you would like to see in the newsletter. Share your wishlist here: What changes would you like to see in the newsletter in 2024?"

- Import sitelinks, labels, descriptions from ku wikipedia pages which use the template w:ku:Template:Înterwîkî etîket û danasîn. (There are over 1800 articles that use this template waiting to be connected to Wikidata at the moment.)
- Add sitelinks to kuwiktionary / kuwikipedia categories / create an item for the category if necessary. I have been doing this manually for quite some time using Quickstatements but since I need to get permission for the first task, I will be handling them using a bot as well.
- Events
- Upcoming: Introducing WMF Wishathon for Wikimedia’s Community Wishlist! "focused on bringing together people who already contribute to technical aspects of the Wikimedia projects, who know how to find their way on the technical ecosystem, and who are able to work or collaborate on projects rather autonomously." - Tool of the week
- Cersei - is a tool designed for importing or scraping data from various third-party sources, using source-specific Python code. It can use a "headless browser" to scrape complicated websites that rely on eg JavaScript to navigate. It can therefore access data sources that can not be accessed via eg Mix'n'match. The data from sources can be updated regularly, either for everything, or just changed entries (if the source has a "recent changes" equivalent).
- Wikidata:Zotero/Cita - is a Wikidata addon for Zotero that adds citations (i.e., what other items an item cites) metadata support to this open source reference management software, using cites work (P2860) information available from Wikidata, and enabling users to easily contribute missing data.

MassRFD[edit]
Hi. Is there an RfD equivalent of MassCfD? --MikutoH talk! 22:58, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- MikutoH, no, but I could write a modified version of MassCFD for RfD if that would be helpful. — Qwerfjkltalk 13:59, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- That would be helpful. Though I think most of y'all use XFDcloser or something, I guess it requires so user groups/status. --MikutoH talk! 03:28, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
- MikutoH, XFDcloser is for closing discussions, not starting them. — Qwerfjkltalk 16:54, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

- Hey man im josh, MikutoH, you can try User:Qwerfjkl/scripts/massXFD.js. I haven't tested it much so I'd warn against really large nominations when you're not prepared to revert your edits.
Let me know what you think, and how I could improve it, as well as any bugs you find. Particularly it could break MassCfD (don't use both scripts at once).
Just wanted to get something out there instead of leaving you hanging. It should work fine, but undoubtedly they'll be at least a few bugs. — Qwerfjkltalk 17:51, 16 May 2024 (UTC)- It didn't work somehow. - It worked now. But it didn't notify one user since different users created the redirects (flexisexual/flexisexuality). --MikutoH talk! 04:49, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
- It didn't even notify anyone in gastrosexual/gastrosexuality --MikutoH talk! 04:54, 18 May 2024 (UTC)

MikutoH, the latter problem was fairly easy to fix - the script was adding the nominations in the wrong place, so every else using Twinkle added their newer nominations below (e.g.). I'll have a look at the other issue. — Qwerfjkltalk 18:38, 18 May 2024 (UTC)- I've also fixed the issue of users not being notified. It was because they were idefinitely blocked, and the script skips notifying indefinitely blocked users. In this case, however, the block was only partial, so I've fixed the script accordingly. — Qwerfjkltalk 18:53, 18 May 2024 (UTC)

- A possible improvement suggestion would be selecting redirects from "Page information" page like Cat-a-lot. Not sure if this would be too complex. --MikutoH talk! 23:08, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- @MikutoH I absolutely love that idea. It's absolutely one of the most common scenarios when you'd batch redirect nominations. Hopefully this won't be too tough an ask, because I'm quite hyped about the idea. Hey man im josh (talk) 00:27, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hey man im josh, at that point you're better off finding another script that can output the titles in text format, and just pasting that into MassXFD. — Qwerfjkltalk 10:06, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- Good point actually. Why overcomplicate things :P Hey man im josh (talk) 10:45, 24 May 2024 (UTC)

Question from Coaches 101 (09:33, 15 May 2024)[edit]
How do I create an article called https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quarantine_Ring_the_alarm_challenge, I am new to this and I want to get it right. Its a song issued by Tyrese Gibson, and I want to know what is the best practices to write this article? --Coaches 101 (talk) 09:33, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- Coaches 101, Welcome! Creating a new article from scratch is extremely challenging, and new editors are strongly recommended to spend a few months learning how Wikipedia works, by making improvements to some of our existing seven million articles before trying it. When you do decide to have a go at a new article, you are highly encouraged to read WP:Your first article. If you haven't already also check out WP:TUTORIAL; it's a lot of fun! Tech News: 2024-21[edit]
Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- The Nuke feature, which enables administrators to mass delete pages, will now correctly delete pages which were moved to another title. [1]
- New changes have been made to the UploadWizard in Wikimedia Commons: the overall layout has been improved, by following new styling and spacing for the form and its fields; the headers and helper text for each of the fields was changed; the Caption field is now a required field, and there is an option for users to copy their caption into the media description. [2][3]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 21 May. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 22 May. It will be on all wikis from 23 May (calendar). [4][5]
- The HTML used to render all headings is being changed to improve accessibility. It will change on 22 May in some skins (Timeless, Modern, CologneBlue, Nostalgia, and Monobook). Please test gadgets on your wiki on these skins and report any related problems so that they can be resolved before this change is made in all other skins. The developers are also considering the introduction of a Gadget API for adding buttons to section titles if that would be helpful to tool creators, and would appreciate any input you have on that.

Abstract: "The contribution draws a history of the presence of the identifiers of the authority records of the URBE network libraries in Wikidata, and of the collaboration that has evolved since 2020 between the Wikidata community and the cataloguers of the URBE network libraries, relating to the harmonisation of these authority records with Wikidata and the improvement of the quality of the respective data. The first part of the contribution traces the main stages of collaboration in chronological order, while the second part of the contribution presents the main areas in which the collaboration materialises (or can materialise) in the daily authority work carried out by cataloguers in theme-based groupings".

Bug in MassCFD[edit]
Hi Qwerfjkl! Thanks again for making MassCFDS. I truly appreciate it.
One of its features has crept into MassCFD. The old drop-down options (e.g. delete, rename, etc.) are gone, and have been replaced with C2A (rename)
etc. Would you be able to fix this? Thanks, HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 00:14, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- HouseBlaster, strange, possibly a variable name conflict. Which scripts do you have installed? Right now I'm working on User:Qwerfjkl/scripts/massXFD.js, to handle mass CfD and RfD nominations - I haven't tested it yet, but it might work. — Qwerfjkltalk 06:18, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- I should probably let you know that I am out of town for the next few days, so I probably won't be able to reply / close CfDs and I definitely can't troubleshoot (sorry!). Maybe ignore for now and we can reconvene on Friday? Best, HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 11:53, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- HouseBlaster, sounds good to me, I'll try to take care of closing CfDs until then. — Qwerfjkltalk 12:40, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

Dear community members,
The Community Affairs Committee (CAC) of the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees invites you to give feedback on a draft Procedure for Sibling Project Lifecycle. This draft Procedure outlines proposed steps and requirements for opening and closing Wikimedia Sibling Projects, and aims to ensure any newly approved projects are set up for success. This is separate from the procedures for opening or closing language versions of projects, which is handled by the Language Committee or closing projects policy.
You can find the details on this page, as well as the ways to give your feedback from today until the end of the day on June 23, 2024, anywhere on Earth.
You can also share information about this with the interested project communities you work with or support, and you can also help us translate the procedure into more languages, so people can join the discussions in their own language.
On behalf of the CAC,

python/pywikibot error[edit]
Hello. I hope you are doing well. I became co-maintainer of Muninnbot. It has been inactive for almost 1.8 years. I tried to test-run, and resolve the current script, but I have been unable to. The script is at /data/project/muninnbot/tea-test.py
, and the error I keep getting is at /data/project/muninnbot/tea-test.out
If possible, would you kindly help me with getting that script/bot running again? —usernamekiran (talk) 12:23, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2024 May 23#Category:Categories without CatAutoTOC and friends[edit]
Hi! Any particular reason you relisted Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2024 May 23#Category:Categories without CatAutoTOC and friends? Gonnym, the only person to comment on the nomination in 2.5 weeks, supported it. (their comment reads, with emphasis added, The only one to use this category really has been banned and there really is no indication what purpose this serve once the data was collected. So agree with proposal. If at any point in the future this or something similar is needed, recreating isn't that difficult.
) Best, HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 00:14, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- HouseBlaster, yes, I read their comment. On second thoughts, it porbably didn't need relisting.Unfortunately I'm going to be away for the next week or so - I'm going on holiday in America. I'll hopefully still be around to answer questions, but I probably won't be able to do much more than that. — Qwerfjkltalk 08:31, 25 May 2024 (UTC)

Any chance of adapting your recently approved bot to English Wikibooks and English Wikisource? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 18:41, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- Should be easier as {{center/top}} {{center/end}} exist on Wikibooks. And {{font}}, {{font/top}}, {{font/end}} also. I can provide more information if needed.. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 18:41, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- ShakespeareFan00, sure, but I'm going to be busy for a while, so I'm not sure how much I can commit to this. — Qwerfjkltalk 23:27, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Baron Trump (disambiguation)[edit]

- is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. I think it would make more sense to implement that as a qualifier for {{P|2196}} than implementing it as a new property as that wouldn't make old data obsolete, but also it could interfere with tools that retrieve that data automated and are then confused by having multiple counts at the same time.)
