DescriptionSeattle AM General trolleybus climbing James St near 5th Ave in 1983.jpg
Seattle trolleybus 980, a 1979 AM General 10240T, climbing James Street between 4th and 5th Avenues in downtown. This block of James Street has a grade of 18%, one of the steepest grades on the entire Seattle trolleybus system. No. 980 was operating a short-line trip on route 3, turning back at First Hill. Seattle's last AM General trolley buses were retired in 2003. Most of the buildings in the background have since been demolished. Those in the righthand background were replaced by the new Seattle City Hall.
